Our Review of Urban Bistro-Bar

Urban is one of those restaurants that just works when you've got kids in tow. It's on the San Pedro boulevard — Avenida del Mediterráneo — and the big selling point for families is the playground directly across the street. Send the kids over to play while you settle in with a drink, and by the time the food arrives everyone's happy and ready to eat.

The menu is huge and properly international. Burgers, nachos, salads, curries, Pad Thai — there's something for everyone, including fussier little eaters. The kids never struggled to find something they wanted. For the grown-ups, the cocktails are well made and there's a decent beer selection too. Prices are reasonable for the quality and portion sizes.

The atmosphere inside is nice — modern decor, lounge seating, a pool table at the back, and big screens showing sport. It's got that casual bistro-bar feel without being too loud or too grown-up for families, especially in the early evening. There's also a terrace outside if you'd rather sit in the fresh air and keep a closer eye on the playground.

It can get lively later in the evening when it shifts more towards a bar atmosphere, so earlier is better if you're coming with young children.
